Yes it is upsetting to hear about a spotter being killed by a tornado. I've been to spotter training and advance spotter training classes. It's a shame someone was killed who had the willingness to serve the puplic. I just hope the family is fine, because it is hard losing a love one. My heart goes out to the family and friends of this storm spotter. I'm a storm chaser, but I give a lot of respect to those who put their lives on the line to help out the public. I had a scenerio where I was by a house and a tornado was approaching, I parked in their driveway and was ready to warn them if the tornado turned straight east, it was moving southeast at the time. Thankfully the tornado headed southeast, and no houses or property was destroyed. Had it turned east I would have had plenty of time to warn the people in that house. I believe we all can do our part when chasing or spotting. Just to make myself clear, I do not go parking on peoples property while storm chasing, this I did this one time because of the potential danger to the owners of this house.
